Lander,
Did you read about the Italian KIA's (do not know his name)circumstances?
He went there to save up money for he and his fiance's first home and was subsequently shot in the head.
Thomas Hamill, recently escaped hostage, went to Iraq to earn money to pay off farm debts. Fortunately, he escaped.
I read the later, but not the prior. I paid off 50K in debts a few years back by working a second job doing moonlight freelance. Hell, I still do it and have no debts.
My point is that there are most certainly other ways to make an honest living other than endangering yourself in Iraq and potentially leaving your family without a husband or father.
Excuse my coldness, but these guys took a risk out of greed and it backfired. I have ZERO sympathy for people that dig their own grave.
Neither one could hardly be qualified as mercenary and I find it hard to judge a man saving to buy his first home (not second or third, mind you, but first) nor a man trying to save a family farm as greedy.
Granted, I don't mingle with the elite, but every man I know worked for his own home without going into a warzone for extra cash.
C'mon Lander, for somebody who professes to value the life of the unborn, how about a little more consideration for those already born looking to take care of their families?
Are you seriously suggesting that the murder of an unborn human is in some manner akin to a grown man making his own choice to jeopardizing his life for money? Last time I checked the lefties weren't to concerned with the babies' opinions on their own murder.
Mud, by all means - please elaborate on your evasive comparision because this one strikes me as equally disturbing and assinine.
Do I believe in the Bush Adminstration's version of why we are in Iraq? Hell, no. Do I believe these people deserved what they got? Hell, no.
Of course they didn't deserve to die, but it is what it is. If you voluntarily work in a war zone there's a chance you might be captured (or worse). Common sense.
I hope that someday you will reconsider.
I didn't make a decision - I merely stated my opinion.
